How long does effexor cause insomnia for?

I just started taking effexor on Thursday for depression, anxiety, muscle pain, and migraines. Before I started taking it I would always wake up early in the morning (6 to 7 am) and not be able to fall asleep but now I also am waking up about 4 times throughout the night and having a hard time falling back asleep. My question is will this go away after the 1st couple weeks of taking this drug or will I continue having insomnia the whole time?
I have always avoided taking pills but my depression/anxiety got so bad I just lay on the couch and watch tv day from the physical pain it causes me.

I have been suffering from migraines and insomnia for aprrox 3 months. My doctor says they are probably related to each other. He has given me serval types of pain pills, and sleeping pills. Which work. But make me sleepy, and sluggish the next day. I work as a registered nurse so I know about the prescription medications. But of course we were never taught about Herbal remedies. Does any one have any that really work. I am having a real hard time with this because I have a demanding job and a family to take care of. And I feel completely worn out. My doctor does have me set up with specialist. But my appointments are not for some time.
I don’t do illegal drugs.

JuneBug22 asked:

Anyone out there tried & can safely endorse non medication, do anywhere treatments to get rid of migraines? Preferrably something that might need to be done at a cubicle-like work environment? Also any non-medicated tricks for helping get back on track to a normal sleep pattern? Have already tried the usual warm milk, reading, puzzle books, relaxing music, play games on computer, etc. (PLEASE KEEP YOUR ANSWERS CLEAN, MY CHILD MIGHT BE READING OVER MY SHOULDER) THANKS!
