“Crying out loud, it’s 3am and here I am in the den trying to sleep on the couch because of the snoring going on in the bedroom. This is not fair, I’m the one that has to get up and go to work in a few hours and I can’t get any sleep because of that darned snoring——I can’t take it anymore!” How many times have you thought that, or said that because your sleep was interrupted for the millionth time by your partner’s snoring. There are thousands of us all saying the same thing in one way or another, and the best thing to do in these circumstances, is to invest in some anti snoring pillows.

Snoring is a result of the airway to the lungs from the outside air being blocked so the body is in a battle to get more air in to meet it’s needs, and this increased pulling of air over the folds of flesh in the throat is what causes snoring. The main culprit is the positioning of the head and neck; if the neck and head are in a bad position and are not aligned properly, then the chin is pressed down against the chest and the airway is obstructed making it necessary for the body to pull hard to get any air. Anti snoring pillows are designed for just such a scenario, and when placed under the head properly, will raise the head to the correct level and the breathing becomes unhindered and the snoring stops.

The causes of snoring are many: bad posture while sleeping, eating too much before bed causing a deep heavy sleep; drinking alcohol before bed which will do the same thing; sleeping on your back instead of your side; obesity is another factor—-too much flesh in the facial area can act as an air flap and actually flap from side to side as the air is drawn in and out.

Another form of anti snoring pillows that are available, are called magnetic pillows. They tout that they not only stop snoring because they position the head better and allow the airway to be unblocked, but they have magnetic properties that perform a healing function of their own.

With the rise in obesity in the developed world and all the problems that go with it, sleep apnea is also on the increase. Sleep apnea is the syndrome where the breathing of the afflicted person is so blocked for whatever reason (quite often too much fat in the facial area), that the snoring that ensues when the person falls asleep is so pronounced that the breathing pattern stops momentarily and the person doesn’t take a breath for a long time. Then, as if coming up out of water, the snorer takes a huge gasping breath and begins to breath and snore once more. On the market as one of the forms of anti snoring pillows is the apnea pillow, which is designed pretty much the same as other pillows for this purpose, and it allows the head to be lifted somewhat while the person is sleeping and realigns the body so the airway is not blocked.

The fact that when you lie on your back to sleep, you are allowing the excess flesh in your throat to fall backward against the back of the throat because of gravity, and this is the primary reason that snoring starts. The passage for air to move to your lungs is blocked and the body responds to this by making the system pull much more air in to compensate, and the increased pressure and air flow induces the snoring. The most effective way to sleep is on your side, because the body is aligned better for restful sleep and with the use of anti snoring pillows, the head and neck are better positioned as well; the end result being, no more snoring.

Your body is a machine and requires routine maintenance just like any other well running machine. Snoring is not part of this picture. Snoring is a breakdown in the healthy picture of the body and is a detriment in the fact that your body cannot get the rest it needs because of lack of good deep sleep, and it can tax your heart as well as pave the way for sleep apnea. One of the most effective ways of stopping the snoring problem once and for all, is the use of anti snoring pillows.

what other health issues that are like sleep apnea?

babyblue asked:

Dr. says I may have sleep apnea. But I’m not overweight or even heavy; I don’t snore or drink alcohol or smoke or anything like that. But the second I lay dow, my breathing gets a little-just a little hard and when I’m aut to fall asleep, I stop breathing. I had asthma when Iwas a lot younger but those symptoms don’t resemble asthma either. What could be wrong?
