I just got back from Canada (12 hour difference from where I am) and I am not tired one bit! It’s 8:20pm here right now and I am wide awake. I want to sleep through the night so I am not asleep for the whole day tomorrow. Then on Thursday is my first day of school. I want my body clock to be normal! Is there any tricks to make myself tired for 10ish? Which is an hour and a half from now. Please don’t resort to medicines/drugs.
I have had insomnia on and off for years. Only recently did it become chronic.I am wondering if there are any good methods around to beat it.
I would prefer not to take drugs.

I’ve been suffering from RLS for years but over the last year it has gone beyond severe. I am taking Requip and have had know luck. I have to take Morphine for the pain it is so severe. I need an inexpensive way to treat this due to insurance only covering selected drugs.
I’ve had mild narcolepsy and cataplexy. I manage it w/o drugs, mostly, with naps and sometimes a good night’s sleep. In the beginning I took some antidepressants against the cataplexy and a stimulant against the daytime sleepiness, but quit when I started having babies. Now, three years later, I’m finished nursing my children and will look into something to help the daytime sleepiness in the afternoons (driving, etc.)
What’s out there now for cataplexy. I hated taking antidepressants and would rather not start them again. Any advice?
Sarina
I have heard about Xyrem. Any experience with that or other drugs from those who know about narcolepsy and have experience with the current drugs would be much appreciated.
I’ve been interested in the cost of narcolepsy medication, and just treatment of narcolepsy in general. I’m pretty clueless as to how someone could get medication for the condition. Is it purely prescription based? How much are prescriptions costing you? Do free-clinics give out prescriptions or do you have to pay for medical insurance to go see a doctor for diagnosis and prescription? Are there any over-the-counter drugs available for narcolepsy?
I’m interested because I’m doing a study for a short documentary on narcolepsy.
