Regarding lovetowatchtv- you are going to like the CPAP. May take a short time to get used to it, but you’ll sleep like a baby (with a fresh clean diaper)
I like sleeping with the CPAP despite what it looks like. It’s actually not uncomfortable either (need enough slack on the hose to move easily from side to side, and need humidification in dry weather), and I got used to it in about three nights of use. Doesn’t bother my girlfriend either, since the machine is always on my side of the bed. There is a white noise sound machine (on her side of the bed) that masks out the slight phasing/humming of my CPAP machine, but it is really not even needed.
As far as noise goes on the CPAP machine, mine (same unit in the video- a REM Star PRO) is fairly quiet, and it actually makes more of a low humming sound rather than a motor like sound. I also use a sound machine (white noise) to drown out night time noise, because believe it or not, my CPAP is quiet enough where it does not mask noises in my bedroom or outside the bedroom window.
Usually a trach procedure is the last resort, when noninvasive methods such as CPAP have failed. Nobody wants a hole in their windpipe, but that is better than death if there is no other choice. People die from sleep apnea, and sometimes drastic measures are the only way.
It takes several months to find the right level for the person using the machine. The cold air and noise can bother light sleepers. Now I am so tired, it doesnt bother me as much. If someone has had little sleep for most their life, anyinterruption is difficult. There are quieter machines that are not being sold yet. I hope they come out soon.
Thank you for the very informative video
i have no problem sleeping with one. who is it hard for? the people using it or the people sleeping near the user? surely if its the latter then its better than loud snoring?
I must admit, I’ve been doing alot of research on sleep apnea, and this video gave me alot of information and was very well explained. thanks guys.
Thanks a lot, that was very helpful…
The Snoring Isn’t **** website encourages patients to discuss their experiences with CPAP, Dental Mouthpieces and Pillar procedure. Visit the “Patient Comments” section and rate your appliance, CPAP or surgical procedure’s effectiveness.
thank you it has been really helpful.
Dude, I’m not fighting with you. You wrote a very sarcastic comment, and I wanted clarification as to what you said, meant or felt. Are you using a CPAP machine at all? If you are, then you would know that the machine is no louder than a personal electric fan, probably even quieter. If it is still too noisy, wear earplugs. Even if it was too noisy, I think I’d rather get a CPAP machine rather than the other alternatives like a hole in my neck.
These forums are not for fighting. They are for learning and sharing. If a CPAP machine is very noisy, it is hard for people to sleep. I was asking if someone would come up with a machine that is not noisy. IF I wanted a fight, I would just go down the street and fight with someone, but I am not that way. Have a good day
ok? Is there any merit to your comment? Looked at your page, and you look like you’re a Christian. I am a Christian as well, and I’m not sure disrespect is something becoming of a Christian.
If you’re just joking around light-heartedly, you could put in a smiley or two to show that you are…
People these days…
sleap apnea machines are great they keep us up at night with the noisy motors. Thank you scientist for making a wonderful machine – can you make one that is silent like bathroom fans that are set up a foot above the vent to avoid noise, maybe some insulation. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the video
just been diagnosed with Sleep Anea and have the appointment for CPAP test this coming wednesday.

Ive been using a CPAP since 2001.My sleeping ssssooooo much better now. Its a very dangerous disease, unchecked you could have heart problems. I remember before I would sit down on the couch or chair and even while driving, I would start to fall asleep. I had my test done and was told I was getting a total of 2 hours of real sleep per night. My wife told me for years about my snoring and did nothing, so dont hesitate on getting it treated.
1992 peter YES you have sleep apnea.
Alot of the times you might not even know your having the attacks as well. Might just be that you notice them more often now. It was the same for me, only every so often i would know of an attack. More my wife that told me
I’ve already gone ahead of you.
I’ve been doing major research.
I may not have it if I’m not having it every night.
I mean, now its gotten up to four or five times a week.
I’ve suffered with this for years, but, just now thought to get it checked out.
mine were every 2 mins a nite. but for a long time i never knew i had them. Best bet is to do some research on the net, webMD has a lot of good info. and from there talk to a doctor
Gottanotherquestion.
Did this happen to you every single night?
Because my spells, (EPISODES,) aren’t every night.
Maybe once or twice a week.
Of course, I’ve ready that OSA episodes, can occur without you knowing of it.
yes…and i’m prescribed a cpap
Did you have sleep apnea?
my husband has a sleep machine and the thing keeps me awake all the time because it is very noisy and it whistles. is rare that i get a restful night’s sleep. why can’t they make them quiet?
