PSA: Consumer Reports RLS Drug Ad Remix
This is cool. =P
Starting this month, Consumer Reports is introducing an entertaining new online video series that will track and report on such ads. The videos are hosted by Associate Editor, Jamie Hirsh, and produced by the ConsumerReports TV News crew. This first installment concerns an interesting class of medications that are approved to treat something called “restless leg syndrome.” That condition may sound fanciful, but it’s a real problem. Something like 3 percent of Americans suffer from RLS, which is characterized by an uncontrollable impulse to keep moving your legs even when you are trying to go to sleep—which obviously could make sleep difficult.

I have RLS and it has nothing to do with seeing ads. Anyway, I don’t take meds but am trying vitamins. Magnesium and vitamin B seems to be helping. Smoking a little pot works extremely well but I reserve that for emergencies only since I don’t like being buzzed.
This is no joke. It’s about 2:10 am and I am up with the feeling like there are ants crawling up and down my legs INSIDE MY BONES. And now that it’s colder out, it is even worse.
to all those ppl out there that make a joke out of RLS,i swear to u it is the worse thing,i would not wish this on my worse enemy i am sat here writing this at 3.47am and am currently in tears with the pains in my legs.i just wish those ppl who dont think b4 they speak could hav this for just one night and see how they feel
Life can be hard. Sometimes you feel sad or distracted or anxious. Or maybe you feel a compelling urge to move your legs. But does that mean you are sick? Does it mean you need medication?
Maybe, maybe not. For some people, symptoms are severe enough to be disabling. But for many others with milder problems, these symptoms are just the transient experiences of everyday life. Helping sick people get treatment is a good thing. Convincing healthy people that they are sick is not.
Have you tried anything to stop your face from screwing up like that when you talk unintelligibly?
Thank you, i take several disserant narcotic meds just to hardly function, I basicly need a new spine and skull, then , i would be much better. i have severe nerve damage from a severe head injurie that crushed my skull and have to have more spine surgeries, my whole body is on fire ans have to wear sunglasses in the house as soon as the sun comes in due to my eyes along with everything else is being crushed, burned and torn apart, imy legs from nerve damage shake . good luck 75.
Youre an idiot.
Yeah, that’s right, the pharmaceutical companies somehow managed to make my right leg and right arm feel like electricity was flowing through them… two years before I saw a Requip commercial. And, even though I’ve never taken Requip, they’ve somehow made it slowly progress for the three years since. I guess they figure if they keep making me worse, sooner or later I’ll give in and try their drug.
Not.
The stark ignorance of this PSA is shameful.
She’s blonde and a ditz. Anyone wanna walk a mile in my shoes for a month? 24/7/365 RLS is something so torturous I wouldn’t even wish it on my worst enemy, let alone a ditzy blonde who desperately wants to look like she knows a bit about what she’s saying, but in reatlity, has no idea. She needs to find another day job. RLS is debilitating, life altering and life torturing, not just for us who have it, but for our family & friends. No, Requip aint the answer. I gave it the flick after 6mths!
andre, it’s easy to balk at a problem you do not have. If only you could (try) and sleep for a week in my shoes with RLS. Requip and Mirapex are miracle drugs which helps those with RLS. Show me any drug that has no side effects and I’ll show you Heaven. I take Mirapex which is similar to Requip and I don’t have any side effects. Please research before typing. Thank you.
Some PSA announcement..
Nice HIT JOB, prissy little snot. There’s a company who designed a boot/device people can wear to feel what RLS can be like. Why don’t you do a REAL PSA and videotape your sweet little prissy self strapping it on and NOT taking it off for 24 hours.
Now THAT is irony I can laugh at.
are you happy? sad? pissed? *****? cold? hot? depressed? bored? hungry? tired? sleepy? awake? can’t sleep? watch football? play xbox? like wearing perfume? go on youtube? like indie movies? stole some french fries when you were seven at the lunch line?
well idiox is the drug for you
see a doctor (like the guy in our commercial) if you have a head ache, if you have diarrhea, if your dead or if you have an erection lasting more than 4 hours
It’s called marketing you IDIOT ****!
Nice Vid —- Just that girl (the host) I dunno She kinda pisst me OFFFFFFF…

Excellent.
Mayo Health Clinic has an excellent review of RLS.Also the RLS Foundation has an excellent website.
also symptons go away with movements
i have the symptoms in the stomach to and feet the worst , but also i have uncontrollable movements like seen in parkinsons , but docter said its not parkinsons , just related because I can still move good, Im gonna get requip or mirapex , right now im on valium and valium can help a bit , try it out.
Yep…..I have it going up my back and shoulders too. I just started requip. So far so good.
well….I’ve had to live with this damn “RLS” for as long as I can remember. I started taking trequip and so far so good. I’ll let you know if I go to Vegas and live it up!
so those are good drugs for it , cuz I have restless leg syndrome 24/7 at rest , and not only is the pain in my legs but it radiates in my torso like lungs and stomach and can drive you insane
placeb treatment
mind oover matter hypochondria is the real sickness
The lisp is cute. Tell you what, sweety–I have a fever. And the only prescription is more lisp!
3% sounds like an over-estimate. That’s a huge chunk of the population. Even 0.03 percent is enough. I have RLS and use Bi-Sifrol and Mirapex successfully.
