Since I was a kid I’d shake my leg before I would drop off. Even now after I lie down, I do and then I fall asleep. If you could, tell me why it’s caused. Not just some method to get good sleep. Thanks.

You do need to go and talk to a doctor about that. RLS is a neural problem, basicly it is nerves misfiring and telling muscles to contract when there is no reason for it. A doctor can prescribe medication to help that problem.
I have the same thing. They did two sleep studies on me where they monitored me through the night. They found that about every hour and a half or so my right leg would begin kicking for no reason and wake me up. That was the main reason I never slept through the night. The doctor presecribed gabepentin (sp?) which has significantly reduced the problem for me.
