schizophrenia is definitely worse. but i would rather have schizophrenia because it’s treated more easily.
there is no cure for narcolepsy, and it really screws up your life, as does schizophrenia. however schizophrenia is treatable.
actually no i take that back. you can treat narcolepsy as well.
no i take that back again.
i wouldn’t mind living in my own little world. you know.
i’d rather not base my life on woulds and coulds and shoulds.
narcolepsy i think is defo worse i’d rather have schizophrenia
you can have drugs to help with schizophrenia but with narcolepsy there is nothing they can do
I am a schizophrenic and it isn’t all that bad. But I’d rather be a narcoleptic as schizophrenia carries with it a lifelong, life destroying stigma from the general public. It must be nice to just sleep much of the time and have vivid pleasant dreams. I imagine narcolepsy to be a little like being dead much of the time but pleasantly entertained while schizophrenia is like being dead and in hell while awake.
as someone with narcolepsy and who also knows another with schizophrenia…let me say without a doubt, i am the luckier of us two. keep in mind both have varying degrees of severity, and i do understand that a very strong case of narcolepsy could be worse. but overall, i’m happier with my lot than he is.
both are lifelong illnesses. both are treatable to a degree. both are greatly misunderstood by the general public & those who don’t know much about them.
but narcolepsy seems to have fewer negative impacts on a life than schiz does. my meds don’t have the side effect of causing me falsely believe i no longer need them, making me stop taking them & causing a big downward spiral. my disorder doesn’t (generally) cause me to have skewed thinking which could seriously harm either myself or those around me. narcolepsy is just an easier disorder to adapt to, with meds & some lifestyle changes.
