Narcolepsy is a disease. I do not think any state can “regulate” a disease.
You probably will have restrictions on driving and job qualifications if you fall asleep uncontrollably.
Regarding what? Driving, disability, school, etc. You need to be a lot more specific to your question!
Your narcolepsy has to be controlled with medication and your doctor has to indicate that your narcolepsy is controlled. Basically, your doctor has to state that you are able to drive. And if the DMV has a board of doctors, they will have to approve it as well.
So I haven’t checked out the laws…. But I have narcolepsy and I live in Florida and I’ve had no problems. My doctor didn’t even mention driving laws, he just threw a prescription at me.
If your treatment works and you don’t fall asleep at bad times then there’s no reason to restrict your driving. If you become a threat and fall asleep on the road then I’m sure they’d take your license away. However, so many problems can be controlled by eating, medication, and scheduled naps that there shouldn’t be a problem!
