I have a friend who is addicted to crystal methamphetmines?

   Detox should be done under a doctor’s care it can be dangerous.

   Yeah, take them to a doctor……many, many bad things can happen during detox. Don’t risk it!

   Your friend needs to talk to their doctor. Not knowing the patent’s medical history, it’s impossible to advise anything.

   Desoxyn IS methamphetamine. I wouldn’t recommend it. Then again, I don’t recommend taking Methadone for opiate withdrawal either. There are other things the doctor can prescribe to get you through the withdrawal symptoms more comfortably…….that are NOT addictive.

   I would try to get him some valium because it stays in your system longer and it is fat soluble. I used to be on a heavy dose of narcotics and when i would withdrawl i would take valium. It is usually best with alcohol withdrawls but it will work Trust me. Desoxyn is not a good drug Valium is the answer. Although it is safe to say your friend will not die from narcotic withdrawl unlike alcohol. So be very supportive of His decision to get of meth. DO NOT force him in ANY way.

   I was a meth abuser for a long time. After my last binge, I slept for about six days – no joke, my parents went on vacation and I crashed immediately after they left and I didn’t wake up until the day they came back. The best thing your friend can do is lock themselves in a bedroom, sleep it off and then stay the hell away from this nasty, powerful, addictive, horrendous drug – with support of friends and family like you. Its miserable withdrawing, but staying addicted is even worse.

   At this time the most effective treatments for methamphetamine addiction are Cognitive Behavioral interventions. These approaches are designed to help modify the patients’ thinking, expectancies, and behaviors and to increase skills in coping with various life stressors. Methamphetamine recovery support groups also appear to be effective adjuncts to behavioral interventions that can lead to long-term drug-free recovery. There are currently no particular pharmacological treatments for dependence on amphetamine or amphetamine-like drugs such as methamphetamine. The current pharmacological approach is borrowed from experience with treatment of cocaine dependence. Unfortunately, this approach has not met with much success since no single agent has proven efficacious in controlled clinical studies. Antidepressant medications are helpful in combating the depressive symptoms frequently seen in methamphetamine users who recently have become abstinent. There are some established protocols that emergency room physicians use to treat individuals who have had a methamphetamine overdose. Because hyperthermia and convulsions are common and often fatal complications of such overdoses, emergency room treatment focuses on the immediate physical symptoms. Overdose patients are cooled off in ice baths, and anticonvulsant drugs may be administered also. Acute methamphetamine intoxication can often be handled by observation in a safe, quiet environment. In cases of extreme excitement or panic, treatment with antianxiety agents such as benzodiazepines has been helpful, and in cases of methamphetamine-induced psychoses, short-term use of neuroleptics has proven successful.

   oh! omfg! that is sad!!! aww! im sooo happy your trying to help your friend! Meth. is a sad thing to become addicted to! It can take away your teeth, kids, and the ability to function in society! plus you can go to jail for it! im applauding your helping your friend! bravo!!!!!
   ? keep helpin him! he can get thru it!!!
