Intense light in the eyes for 2 hours at the time you would normally wake up. Not so bright as to burn your eyes up, but very bright.
Adjust to the new time zone as soon as you arrive–if it’s daytime, stay up until bedtime, getting as much sun as possible.
I try to build in a day of just relaxing. Try melatonin to aid your sleep. Drink lots of water.
The only thing I’ve found that definitely works is to start changing my internal clock a few days ahead of time. Going east, I start going to bed earlier and getting up earlier, until the day I leave I’m getting out of bed at 1:00 AM.
plan for where your going go to sleep early a few days prior and wake up early if your going east the opposite for west red bull can help you stay up when you get there but most of the time its mind over matter
I really think the best way is to fly straight home. Okay I’m joking but it depends on how far you have traveled. A time zone or two can be handled pretty quickly by going to bed earlier or later as the situation demands but I find leaving a day open on either side of the flight, a day with nothing planned so you can adjust at your liesure. The next day you can get into your business meetings vacationing or whatever with relative ease.
What works for me is arriving at the new place in the late morning and trying to stay awake until night time. It is much easier to try to stay awake in the day, than to try to sleep at night in the new place.
