If possible, see if you can start adjusting your internal time clock to PST while you’re over there by going to bed earlier and getting up earlier. You’ll be closer to your time zone when you land. (On my last trip to Europe, I had a few days to prepare, so on my departure date I wound up going to bed at 5 PM and got up at 1:00 AM. It really worked!)
When the plane takes off, set your watch for California time, and act accordingly, i.e., when to eat, when to sleep.
I’ve found great success with a homeopathic remedy called, not surprisingly, No Jet Lag, which you can get at any travel store, or online at Magellens.com.
And allow a full day of recovery when you get home. No tasks, don’t go anywhere, just hang around, sleep, eat.
I travel for a living. The best advice I can give is to leave at least one day between the time you get home and the time you have to go back to work just to get a good night sleep. Unfortunately, there isn’t a miricle cure for jetlag.

Good luck!

Have one day to get used to the time change, and rest up. Eat a healthy diet, and drink plenty of water. Time is the best thing.
