I have never been on a plane for more than four hours. When we arrive in Hong Kong, it will be six in the morning.
Does anyone have some tips on how to avoid jet lag? Or how to survive a 14-hour flight in general? I don’t want to learn the hard way!

My first overseas flight was 18 hours and I had the same concerns. It turned out that I really didn’t need to worry. I suggest getting an aisle seat so that you can get up frequently and walk around. Also, set your watch to Hong Kong time immediately upon getting on the plane. Then nap early on so that you can begin adjusting to your new schedule. Between watching movies and eating all the time, the time will pass faster than you imagine. On these long distance flights, they feed you constantly! The flight attendants go mostly by the local time, so they will turn off lights and ask everyone to lower shades and this will help your body to naturally adjust. Have a wonderful time in Hong Kong!!!!!
P. S. Bring a jacket and your own blanket or you will be miserably cold even with the blanket they supply!
they have had a study about this. for some reson taking a vigara pill before flight helps with jet lag..??
another tip is to put a moist warm towel over your face in flight
take a nap after the flight. but with it being 6am (their time) it might be good to sleep for a few hours.3-5 hours.
Staying hydrated helps. Avoid coffee or alcohol and drink a lot of water. Just try and have a drink each time it is offered. Also try and nap a bit if you can of course. You can also start adjusting your schedule to the foreign time a few days ahead, but if you’re working or anything its a bit impossible to do.
Items to bring:
Travel blanket and pillow (you can’t count on theirs to be clean or comfy)
Hand sanitizer or wipes (to wipe your hands and also the arm rests and tray table)
snacks/gum/candy
saline nose drops, Evian Mineral Water Spray, eye drops, moisturizer to combat the dry cabin air
books magazines
i am from canada and flew to hong kong many times. i know live there. thats how amazing it is. i flew from montreal and it took mee 16 hours or more. the best way to get over jet lag is going right in the hong kong sleeping schedule. if you arrive at 6 am yyou can nap for a whiile bbut try to stay up all day till night even though the time differenceis so huge.
good luck.
