Insomnia involves a few things -
1. Taking a long time to fall asleep.
2. Broken and disrupted sleep patterns.
3. Too short a sleep duration - waking too early.
4. Awakening still feeling tired, unrefreshed. The feeling continuing throughout the day.
5. When tiredness is affecting your ability to focus during the day, and affecting your concentration.
If you have these symptoms do talk to your health professional.

2/5 people sore. 3/5 people suffer from insomnia. In answer to you question, yes- it should only take 30 minuets max to fall asleep... without any visual distractions (books, tv, etc)
