I’m on this med for a chronic pain and injury in my shoulder, but lately I’ve had insomnia–could the meds be to blame?

Kind of the opposite for me.
Never taken them for pain, though.
All opioids can cause the person to be “wide awake”! It doesn’t happen to everyone, but it is a known side effect. I take a different opioid and it does it to me. Hence, me writing on forums and blogs at midnight instead of sleeping, lol.
I usually pass out when I take hydrocodone…I’m not sure if it is, but you might want to ask your doctor just in case. He might want to try you on something else.
Nope never. The hydrocodone put me to sleep. Ask your doctor.
Yes for some it controls the pain but sleep is lost. Tell the doctor and he will put you on something else.
Yes for some people Hydrocodone is an upper.
Everyone reacts differently to medication.
When I take Vicodin I’m wide awake!
if anything it should help you sleep but if you are having an odd reaction to it like insomnia maybe you should talk to a doctor about it
If anything the Hydrocodone should make you sleep. You may have some reaction to it that causes the opposite, so I would ask your Dr. about it. I took it for a couple weeks after surgery and I slept nearly all the time and even had to set an alarm to make sure I’d take the next dose on time.
yes, that is a symptom and ive experienced it. hydrocodone is the devil. get some other type of med…
insomnia is not a side effect or adverse reaction of hydrocodone according to Davis’s Drug Guide for Nurses. Sometimes people have unusual reactions to medication, but as a rule, hydrocodone should make you drowsy. Sounds like something else is going on–stress, worry, high caffeine intake late in the day perhaps. Talk to your doctor about the insomnia, it is important to get good sleep to heal properly. Good luck.
Sorry about your pain. Nope, hydrocodone gave me the
best sleep I’ve had in months, in fact seemed to reset
my sleep cycle so that I sleep better now even when I
don’t take it. Weird.
Oh yes. insomnia and hallucinations sometimes even night sweats. Originally, they are given to you to relieve the pain. Eventually, not sleeping is now the pain. Bad trade off. You can try a sleep aid like AmbienCR
It keeps me up all night itching.
