To be correct about it, insomnia is not a disorder it is a symptom. There are different kinds of insomnia. There is Sleep Onset Insomnia which is defined as a disorder in which the major sleep episode is delayed in relation to one&#8217;s desired clock time that results in symptoms of difficulty in awakening at the desired time. There is also Idiopathic Insomnia. Idiopathic Insomnia is a lifelong inability to achieve adequate sleep that is presumably caused by an abnormality of the neurological control of the sleep-wake system. This type of insomnia is long standing and commonly beginning in early childhood sometimes even since birth. But whatever the insomnia may be there is now an alternative medication in treating insomnia and it is called hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment involves a treatment where the insomniac is put inside a sealed hyperbaric chamber and breathing in 100% pure oxygen. The oxygen is 1.5 to 3 times normal atmospheric pressure thus making the intake of oxygen faster. The treatment has already been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to treat insomnia. What is also good about it is that hyperbaric chambers can be bought or rent thus having the chance where you can get the treatment right at home.
