Nina asked: I am considering switching insurance during open enrollment to CareFirst, from Kaiser. I have sleep apnea and am on a CPAP machine. Is this considered a pre-existing condition that would nto be covered, or can it be transferred to the new insurance as durable medical equipment?
I am waiting on an answer from CareFirst, but need to make a decision by next week.

PL asked:
A couple of months ago, I was diagnosed with having Hypersomnia and am currently taking 350mg of Provigil, which has worked exceptionally well to keep me awake during class, work, etc. . After further reading of hypersomnia, I had realized Restless Leg Syndrome was the cause. Ever since I was about six, I’ve had the symptoms of RLS: tingling feeling, urge to move, only goes away when moving or concentrating on something else like video games. The thing is, it occurs to almost ALL of my muscles not just legs or arms, but my neck, fingers, shoulder, calves, etc. I wake up in the morning just the same way I went to sleep. I feel like I get no energy at all from sleep. What am I supposed to do?? I also haven’t had the time to check in with my neurologist lately, but plan to do so soon for asking about RLS. What can I do sleep-wise to help me? Also dietary?

Kaleigh57 asked: I am flying to Thailand in about a week, and I go to school in Texas. There is a 12-hour time difference, and the travel day will be between about 23-24 hours long. I’m flying through Tokyo, over the Pacific.
How bad will the jet lag be? Also, any tips on getting over it? I’ve heard that coming back is worse, and classes start right after I get back. I don’t want to be falling asleep in class the first day.

Restless Leg Syndrome keeps me awake most nights. It is a miserable creepy crawley feeling in the legs, that nothing seems to relieve, and I have tried many things. I am hoping for a solution that works. Thanks, Gently

We have tried for two years now, and still nothing. My period has been non-existent for about a year now. We are not using any birth control (obviously). My doctor says it’s just because of my sleep apnea. I already have a son from a previous relationship. Any suggestions?
I have a CPAP machine and have had it for about a month now.

nedbella asked: I’m wondering if a small glass of port before i got to bed will help. I know it has helped me in the past with getting to sleep, but i’ve only had restless leg syndrome become worse in the past few weeks to the point where i’m looking for home remedies. I’d rather not take medication as i’m already taking medication for my epilepsy.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’ve been sleepless for 3 consecutive days. I tried melatonin from GNC but it just made me dizzy but not sleepy at all. I’ve been feeling backpain and dizziness due to sleeplessness. What are some practical solutions to my insomnia? I’ve been an insomniac since I was a teen. Pls. advise.

I stopped taking Remeron last Thursday (as directed by my psychiatrist), and have been experiencing moderate insomnia. Note that insomnia was never a problem before (on or off Remeron). I tried Valerian but it doesn’t seem to hit the target and I feel wired. Does anyone have experience/suggestions that helped?
